RESIDENT ARTIST :: S. Hill-Sanchez

ARTIST STATEMENT
S. Hill-Sanchez
S. Hill-Sanchez’s current body of work confronts the numbing effects of image fetish and repetition. At times her work is comprised of images of historical events woven together to create patterns that rest on the edge of visibility, while in other works a single image is employed for use in serial form taking on the concept of patterning and repetition in a different sense. As the true images are camouflaged in plain sight, the viewer is invited to engage the work for its aesthetic value while being invited to ignore the content of the image. Hill-Sanchez’s works attempt to use perception to create tension between substance and superficiality.
