Thank you for your interest in applying for a studio space at River East Art Center. We appreciate your enthusiasm for this opportunity and the time you will invest in applying for our jury process.
This first year program provides all-new studio spaces, ready for occupancy in spring 2008 following the juried process for the selection of the second generation artists. Promising to offer numerous benefits by working within a fine arts community. River East Art Center is funding this initiative so that it can offer accessibly-priced rent for the 22 artists’ studios, ranging in size from 132 square feet to 477 square feet. The studios are appropriate for painting, drawing, clay, jewelry, digital, sculpture, fiber and printmaking.
These spaces are all-new construction, located within a historic building at 435 East Illinois Street in Chicago between North Michigan Avenue and Lake Shore Drive.
Artists with studios at River East Art Center will benefit from:
- Sustained funding to ensure generously-priced studio rentals
- Retail opportunities through a gallery dedicated to marketing and selling works by studio artists
- Frequent, planned and promoted “meet the artist” tours
- Regularly scheduled Friday night gallery openings and studio receptions
- Inclusion in the River East Art Center advertising and marketing campaigns / website representation
- Hands-on involvement with in-house dealers who own fine art galleries
- Classroom / workshop teaching at River East Art Center
- Networking opportunities with fellow established in-house artists
- Information will be forthcoming regarding public relations and marketing to be offered to River East Art Center studio artists
We currently are seeking to add to the inaugural group of in-house artists, and look forward to showcasing the artists who have recently joined the fine arts community in River East Art Center’s 140,000 square foot space.
